ABOUT KREATE BY WORK LTD

Work Ltd. is a small, independent charity, which provides a friendly, encouraging and rewarding environment for adults (16+) with learning disabilities. We do this through creative and fun hands-on projects and activities, which aim to develop vocational and life skills, self-esteem and confidence.

Opportunities are wide ranging and include working in our award winning Hidden Gem Café or learning basic life skills in the student kitchen such as cooking, washing and cleaning. We also have a craft centre and workshop where students enjoy making a variety of arts and crafts, textiles, woodwork, stained glass and Jesmonite. Most products made by the students are sold via our retail units, The Hidden Gem café and Kreate our brand new second learning centre. This not only provides an income source for the charity, but also builds enormous confidence and self-worth for the students who love seeing the products they have made for sale and talking to the customers. When the students aren’t engaged in vocational and life-skills activities we offer a programme of recreational activities such as nature walks, sports, music, dance and drama, which help to promote healthy living and wellbeing.

We currently have 87 students from across Sheffield and beyond, who have a variety of moderate-severe learning disabilities, including Downs Syndrome, Autism and general learning disabilities. People with learning disabilities have a significantly reduced ability to understand new or complex information, learn new skills and cope independently. We take a tailored approach for each student and passionately believe the caring, supportive and rewarding community-based environment we provide encourages each and every one of them to reach their full potential – in many cases achievements that they would have never thought of as possible!

So what is KREATE

Kreate is a unique retail concept which allows us to change the perception of giving. Every sale goes to support WORK Ltd, our Sheffield based charity that champions learning disabled adults. Our beautifully curated and constantly changing range of home and giftwear includes everything you need to spoil your loved one or yourself. We also have a range of crafts designed and made by our very own students.

Not only is Kreate a beautiful home and giftwear store it is the arm of WORK Ltd and The Hidden Gem café where our students will get the opportunity to learn a wide range of new skills such as photography, multimedia, clay and jesmonite crafts as well as hosting their famous podcast Its cool to be different in their very own podcast studio.
